So, it’s been raining the last few
days weeks in Tirol and most of southern Europe. A LOT. Too much to be precise.* I’ve escaped to South Tyrol for a while, but only found just as much rain and low temperatures there. It’s been raining and raining, and the only good thing I can see is that it’s snowing up on the glacier and maybe, maybe we’ll be having a powder day up there in the upcoming weeks. If only the rain would stop. Around here in Innsbruck, it’s gotten so bad, that we had a avalanche come down on the 1st of June at Höttingalm, which is a 2hrs hike up the mountain from where I live (watch the video here).
Long story short: it’s fucking depressing.
So, to ease (or stir) the pain, I’ve created this list of songs that will support rain depression. Yours and mine.
- Have you ever seen the rain? – Creedence Clearwater Revival
Does the pope shit in the woods?
- Ain’t no sunshine – Bill Withers
Nooo, noooo, noooooooo…
- Why does it always rain on me? – Travis
- Sonne statt Regan – Joseph Beuys
Genius Joseph Beuys demanding “sun instead of rain (“Regen” in German)
- Riders in the storm – Doors
Well, if you’ve got to get somewhere these days you might feel like this.
- Here comes the rain again – Eurythmics
And here comes some more rain, yay. NOT.
- Only happy when it rains – Garbage
Well, why not make the best out of it. Or let Shirley Manson have it all since she’s so happy about it?
- Nothing compares to you – Sinéad O’Connor
Now, we’re actually am making the best out of it. Rain is healthy soul food for pretty much all your depressions. So go right along, cry over some something very sad or frustrating. But make sure it’s actually tears rolling down your cheeks and not rain drops.
- Underwater Love – Smoke City
Or… do the opposite and dive down under…
- Puff the magic dragon – Peter, Paul & Mary
…and if that’s not an option, this always is.
Have a good Sunday. Stay wet and keep your head above the surface!
*Fun aside, the situation is getting pretty dramatic in some parts of Austria and Bavaria. Some schools near Rosenheim will be closed tomorrow and a village in Tirol had to be evacuated. Let’s hope the rain will soon stop and things will calm down.
